mishedlo, the transfer of data on both edges of a clock IS a decades old idea, and it WAS implemented decades ago.

The problem is DDR DRAM is NOT only "the both edges of the clock idea", but it is a total system design, albeit poorly done, that uses a lot of other ideas. Many of those "other" ideas infringe upon Rambus patents. And, without those "Rambus Patented Ideas", it just would not work at all.

The name DDR implies "both edges of the clock". But that is only the name.
