kykkc,

I would bet that we spend far more dollars in bombs
dropped on Third World Countries than in foreign aid.

Consider that President Clinton has bombed Iraq, The
Sudan, Afghanistan, and Yugoslavia. The combined
cost of those military actions is around 100 billion
dollars. In contrast, we spend about 0.27% of our
1.5 trillion dollar budget on foreign aid.

The Clinton Doctrine has concluded that it is far
cheaper to bomb nations into submission than it is
to try and buy them off.

I didn't bother calculating the cost of the war in
Somalia since it was a low tech affair (although it
was quite lethal resulting in 18 dead Americans and
about 1,000 dead Somalis).
