I took offense to the manner in which you started this thread.
Therein may lie a problem. In the SI forum it is easier to skip over the many new threads than to spend time reading them. Why didn't you?

I maintain that it is a bad idea for people to get too involved in issues that they don't agree with, just because they are different. If this banter makes you angry, then just ignore it. The inability to ignore differences in others is a major social defect of modern times.

For example, I enjoy a good steak. Yumm. I also know a lot of Vegetarians and a few Vegans. How should I cope? Should I make them eat meat? Of course not! So long as nobody's throwing paint on my leather jacket I acknowledge, but otherwise ignore their beliefs.

I have a specific example. Last Thanksgiving I invited 2 vegitarians and 1 vegan to dinner. Did I serve turkey? you bet! But because these people were my guests I made sure there were enough side dishes which contained no meat to make a good meal. Did I bring up the issue? You bet! But only to point out to the guests what ingredients were used so they could make up their own mind about what to eat. Was it a good dinner? You bet!
