what about restarting another tulipomania contest... tulips, part II:

while we might not have seen the top of these tulips, it can easily be that these companies never grow into their valuation shoes. ...

Note that the once flourishing e*tailers had to deflate 60 to 99% to finally "grow into" their valuation, while revenues actually rose over time.

But noone paid a look at "anything optical" with even smaller revenues...and overblown market caps.

And if one paid a look what did he say? "This time it's different!"

Doesn't happen. Just my 2cts.
