here's a similar one....

although there are no baby bottoms in this tale (no pun intended).

more and more espresso shops are appearing in our area. these shops are frequently of the drive-through variety, sell very powerful and expensive beverages, and seem to have young female employees who have multiple body piercings, either blue or red hair and wear t-shirts that do not come all the way down to their waists, thus displaying the tattoo that they all seem to have in the middle of their lower back.

but that is fine. these girls are, in an odd sort of way, fun to observe. and they are always friendly. the problem is how they sometimes handle the beverage cups.

my wife and i usually go in together, so we are ordering two drinks. two times now i have watched as the young girl picks the cup up off of its inverted stack with her right hand, then switches it to her left hand BY PLACING TWO OR THREE FINGERS FROM THAT HAND INTO THE INSIDE OF THE CUP, so that her right hand is free to grab the second cup. she then transfers the second cup to her left hand IN THE SAME MANNER, and begins to mark the name of the drink on the outside of the cup so that the girl filling the order will know which is which.

meanwhile, i observe this same young lady, whose fingers and hands have been both inside and all over the lip of the paper coffee cup i am about to be served, push her hair back from her face, rub her nose, handle my $5 dollar bill, wipe both of her hands on her pants and scratch her neck.

in both instances, i have stated to the girl (in a voice that only she and not other customers could hear) that she needs to be cognizant of where she places her fingers when she is serving the public, and i've actually reenacted the entire handling sequence for one young lady who was genuinely perplexed by my comments. when she saw what i was doing, she immediately recognized her own behaviors and, though embarrassed, thanked me for bringing it to her attention.

but i still want my 16 ounce black coffee with two shots of espresso! just please, no fingers

:)
