I really have no first hand knowledge as to the fact that costs and benefits for union workers would be higher. It is just an opinion but it seems, generally, administrative costs would be more with a union. Also, I think it is a general opinion that more workers are required to do the same job in a union setting. That would be much costlier, even though it wouldn't show up in the benefit column. Most workers, today, receive a lot of benefits. I don't know if union workers receive more than non-union workers. Probably about the same. Of course, it is my opinion, and correct me if I am wrong, the employer has to withhold the union dues, account for them, and submit them to the union and that would be an additional exercise for the payroll folks.
