It's COMPLETELY LOGICAL - and that's where you are LOST.

The Coppermine is 33% SMALLER with 33% less cache - ERGO - the densities are equivalent - despite AMD's use of the more complicated Local Interconnect.

Intel - despite their design sanfus- has caught up with AMD in layout density at the 0.18 micron level - with the use of a SIMPLER PROCESS.

Now do you get it?
