Re the opticals: There's a faction obviously who feels that they are a bubble akin to the old internet bubble and will have a similar monstrous decline. I've played puts on CIEN and JDSU but quite honestly, it's discouraging the way CIEN in particular bounces off support and goes on to make yet new highs. I'd love to do a longer term bet on a huge decline there without taking on the risk of trying to pick a top - shorting the common and suffering a big drawdown, and of course the put premiums are awful.

I wonder if anyone who shorted the internet stocks on similar pie in the sky valuation theories lived long enough to benefit from the bubble bursting and if they did, what strategies they employed.
