NYT today had an interesting article on investment strategies, including "Dogs of the Dow" and mentions the Fool. nytimes.com Although I can't say I agree with it. To quote: "To determine whether an apparently successful strategy is worth a bet, we first need to know how many other strategies were also back-tested. An adviser might have tested 99 strategies that failed before coming across one that succeeded." Why would the discarded strategies have anything to do with the successful one? I think he's trying to discuss "sample chopping" which is an entirely different flaw. - Fred
