$300 free from e-trade for anyone with an existing account who adds $50K cash to it for at least 30 days. Money can stay in their Kemper money market fund if you like, which pays 5.72% interest (not the best, but hey you get a $300 bonus in only a month). Money must stay there only 30 days to get the $300 then you can just move it back where it was.

To get the offer, use the below link to go into e-trade and log in to your own account. That should take you to the page which explains it.

I have money in money markets elsewhere (as most of us do), so it was a simple matter to write a check to e-trade today drawn on Schwab or Vanguard. 30 days later, I can just write a check on the e-trade account and send it back to Vanguard or Schwab. I still get the $300. There is no loss of interest for money in transit, since they credit you on day of deposit in the new account and debit when the check clears on the old account. You may even get 1 extra day of interest, if clearing takes 2 days.

$50K is the max you can do, but if you choose to do less the bonus is $60 for each $10K you deposit.

They are doing this to get hot money into e-trade, thinking people will churn it. But for money market types, you can just put it there 30 days earning interest, then move it out, without ever placing a trade.

Do them a favor, take this $300 free money off their hands, they are anxious to pay it out.
