I recently purchased a few shares in the company. It looks cheap on a P/cf and P/e basis.

It will be bringing the Old Navy chain to Canada in the spring of 2001. I believe that it will do very well here. The prices at Old Navy are very good. It offers good value.

Gap has been in this situation before.Every few years their sales disappoint due to poor weather or poor fashion choice,

It looks like they will have to cut back on the number of new Gap & Old Navy stores in the U.S. The current expansion plan is cannibalizing sales at existing stores.

Slower expansion in the U.S. will also help reduce debt.

In Canada there has been talk about the return to a more dress up casual wear in office wear. People want more than Khakis and Denim. I read that Banana Republic and GAP will be offering more "dressy" merchandise in their stores.

I think that the stock will recover over the next few years.
