Gee, this is so unpleasant. What is the matter with the human race? Here is an article that covers the problem in a wide reaching way. It is long but it covers all the angles. The man who spear-headed the original eradication is still involved in the most intimate way with these new developments. This is very heartening, at least, to know that he knows first hand the implications of a lack of vigilence. D. A. Henderson is now a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He is the founder and the director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Civilian Biodefense Studies, a think tank that considers what might be done to protect the American population during a biological event. The term "biological event" hardly existed two years ago, but it is now used by emergency planners and by the F.B.I. to mean a terrorist attack with a bioweapon -- an unnatural event, caused by human intent.
