An approximate quote, I remember not the exact words, from a former VP candidate (I don't think anyone has ever said it better than Admiral Stockdale): "A woman owns her body. Period" No government at any level - Congress, State Legislature, or County Commissioner - has any business telling a woman whether she will bear a child or not. Period. Whether it be the Chinese communists who compel abortions or any of you who would forbid them here. None of government's business. It is the ultimate right-wing hypocrisy to preach limited government and then advocate the largest expansion of governmental power in this country's history to insert itself into the most intimate and private aspects of a woman's life. Does abortion make me uneasy? Yes. Is abortion murder? No. The key question for formulation of public policy, however, is: does government, can any government, at any level, know the answer to this question best? Absolutely and unquestionably NO.
