you are correct......i know a couple of people who have bonds from the early 80s at 11 to 12% in their retirement accounts......at the time the one guy's mentor told him you have to buy these bonds.....whether retirement acct or not......initially he debated b/c at the time b/c inflation was 18%? or so......the guy responded that it would go back down and if it didnt then we were all going to hell.....basically his point was that if inflation was never ck'd, the economy etc. would fall apart over time.......over the yrs this guy has made a killing with basically no risk....

you are right....i doubt we will ever see rates like that again.....
