My understanding is that VO-IP (voice over internet protocol) (hate these telecom acronyms but what are you going to do?) is being rolled out in Europe and Asia, but I don't know the status of it here with respect to the FCC. What will it mean to the mish-mash of RBOCs, CLECs, ILECs and the rest of the alphabet soup? I think everyone is hoping that VO-IP won't be regulated anymore than data over IP is regulated. Is that going to fly?

Regulatory questions aside, VO-IP is the holy grail, the killer app, whatever you want to call it, but when it gets here, isn't it just going to be another commodity like the rest of the internet?
