Kana Introduces Enterprise Java eBusiness Platform For UNIX October 2, 2000 10:19 AM Eastern Time REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 2000--
eBusiness Platform Provides Leading Companies With Highly Scalable and Flexible Foundation for Rapidly Deploying Relationship Management Solutions
Kana Communications, Inc. KANA , a leading provider of enterprise relationship management (eRM) solutions today announced the availability of Kana eBusiness Platform for Unix. Kana eBusiness Platform is an open and extensible Internet architected application platform for rapidly building and deploying world-class e-business applications. Kana eBusiness Platform, which has also been delivered on a Windows NT COM platform, is now available on a 100% Java(TM) (J2EE(TM)) technology architecture, with initial support for Sun's Solaris and IBM's AIX operating systems. The product combines the portability and flexibility of a Java implementation with Kana's open-architecture, enabling companies to create a flexible and mission-critical foundation to integrate all of their e-business applications.
The cornerstone of any e-business is the platform, where applications and services are integrated through shared, object-oriented data structures, business rules and processes, enabling companies to easily manage relationships and interactions between customers, partners and the enterprise. Kana eBusiness Platform delivers this through a foundation that is both "enterprise-facing" and "customer-facing". The platform leverages the latest in Internet technologies, including XML and J2EE, and provides companies with the ability to rapidly integrate with existing applications and data sources and build and deploy new views of already existing data, without moving it. This enables a comprehensive view of customer and partner interaction history and profiles, and provides a common way to manage application services such as personalization, Internet workflow, business rules and events, permissions and security.
Donna Fluss, vice president and research director, CRM Practice, for The Gartner Group stated, "The increasing need for scalability on the web - the need to process large volumes of transactions with mission critical dependability - is moving the eService and eCRM market places towards UNIX."
Kana eBusiness Platform was designed and developed based on customer feedback and market demand from leading Internet firms and Global 2000 companies transitioning to e-businesses. This platform realizes dozens of customer-driven enhancements and new capabilities that will allow Kana customers to:
-- Work on an open platform, architected on the latest in Internet technologies, that scales to millions of simultaneous users and leverages industry-standard technologies.
-- Through a browser-based GUI interface, empower business process owners to create and maintain easy-to-construct workflows and business rules in real-time, so that companies can respond quickly and with minimal disruption to dynamic changes in the way they interact with customers and partners.
-- Extend a robust data model that defines standard data and data relationships useful in all e-business applications to rapidly develop and deploy applications and reduce development costs.
-- Extend the Kana eBusiness Platform data model to incorporate legacy system data so that companies can create a global view of the relationship for customers, partners and enterprise users and leverage their investment in existing systems and databases.
-- Take advantage of customer and enterprise-facing Web site interfaces that can be easily personalized to increase customer interaction and satisfaction with the company. Enhanced user interface templates, designed to automatically work with a company's existing Web site design.
-- Create and manage secure multi-user accounts, and unlimited secure profiles so that companies can provide unlimited, permission-based personal views into one common database of customers, partners and staff members.
-- Leverage Kana eBusiness Platform's support for Unicode from Web server to database to enable customer interactions in native languages and quickly extend market reach to international audiences.
"At Kana we are delivering enterprise-strength products that empower companies to deploy large-scale e-business solutions without having to remold their entire business," said Michael McCloskey, CEO, Kana. "Kana grants companies the flexibility to build e-businesses cost effectively, by leveraging systems they already invested in and integrating the data applications on which they already rely. Our eBusiness Platform was engineered based on feedback from Kana's base of more than 700 customers, including leading Internet and Global 2000."
