The div paid will keep stability so it still looks like a keeper to me... I'm a GE holder, but I think your trust in the stability given by the dividend is misplaced. According to Yahoo the dividend yield is only 0.95%. I will grant that, baring the collapse of Capitalism and the fall of Western Civilization, the dividend is probably safe.
