Barnabus, Maybe "strictly for the money" was a bit harsh, but I do question their need for limos, private jet planes, motorcycles, mansions, etc. They may say "God wants you rich" but from what I have seen, they mean after they get rich, first.
I don't watch TBN at all, myself, and am no longer with the wife that did so on a constant basis, but the few times that I did see Jan, she reminded me too much of Jim Bakker's wife. I can't believe I forgot her first name.
None of us are without sin, nor can we ever be so, according to the Bible, but most of us do not pretend to make prophesy either. As shalom said, I would not consider anything from TBN to be anything approaching prophesy.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I know, first hand, how insidious dependence on alcohol can be, and what a hold it can have on a human. Others cannot make a drunk change, but those that love him, should stand ready to help whenever he hits his own bottom, and is convinced he has had enough. I will pray for that bottom to rush up and slap him in the face, soon. That may not sound like a proper prayer, but I would have appreciated anyone making such a plea to God for me.
The best to you!
