Hi,

I'm new to IDX thread but have been around SI. Keiko has told me about IDX and I finally bought in a few weeks ago. I use options alot so I just wanted to comment on the options analysis.

After a stock has been on a run like IDX, many short it as a matter of principle. Many calls are bought to hedge short positions. Puts on the otherhand hedge long positions, I bought 10 puts to lock in profits here. I do this regardless of my feelings of the stock. It's like fire insurance, you hope not to use it but glad to have it if it is needed. This may also explain why most options expire worthless, unneeded insurance. Anyway, my point is that options are bought for all reasons. Usually if anything they are a contra indicator. My feeling is that they are a poor indicator of anything. Although sometimes they are fun to watch.

You all seem like a good bunch, hope I can contribute to your chat.
