Sawtooth:

I regularly ask everyone I know who I think would be a good and willing candidate for a G* phone if they are familiar with the product. While the "yes" answers are creeping slowly upward, the "no's" are still in the overwhelming majority.

I agree. I deal with many folks who are routinely out of cellular and who carry 2-3 cell phones and other gadgets (pagers, short messagers, etc.) to constantly be reachable. These guys almost always have "the company" pay the bill, so cost is not much of an issue. I have NEVER encountered anyone (out of perhaps 50) who has heard of G* (although they have all heard of I*). After some poking and prodding, some of them seem to know that sat service is available, but they don't know any real detail (or they could simply be trying to appease me).

In other words, G*'s marketing hasn't reached many folks. I still say that they should loan the phones for FREE to targeted corporations to get them hooked. Clearly no one in G*'s marketing department was ever a drug dealer.
