FWIW, I cannot fathom any reason, other than tax-loss selling and mutuals clearing losers from their portfolios, that AMAT is down so precipitously. Fundamentals remain very strong, and the 2000 PE is about 20 -- in a growing industry. Therefore, I once again violated my own rules against timing and bought some calls -- too many days ago.

My point is that I'm convinced that there will be a substantial recovery in AMAT (and others), but I'm just hoping it'll be soon.

There has not been any peeps about negative surprises so I think we LT holders who kept our bloomers on will be rewarded.
