Happy_Girl, when I take that trip down memory lane...this song strikes me, not for the memory it holds for me relating to the song itself but for what the words say about how we look at the events in our life. We can take those things that turn out differently than we want and expected, face the pain, yet be thankful for the part of the memory that once brought us joy...(I know that is much easier said than done, but it is worth the effort, to attempt to live out this view point...) Here is the song:

The Dance
Garth Brooks

Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

(chorus)
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all

*chorus*
Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance.
