Speaking of mergers, a question for all you long-termers (hope we're not in for more long-term holding). All this merger activity, i.e.; MTSN & CFMT/Steag, ASML & SVGI and MKSI & ASTX, seems rather frenzied in conjunction with the recent sag in our fortunes that some might have noticed. Anyone remember such a period in, perhaps the waning days of the '95-96' upcycle? Are mergers an indication of strength in the industry, or an admission of weakness? Or none of the above?
