AMD is headed to more and more competition with Motorola.
First, the TI/AMD collaboration on wireless architectures. The Kanellos article said this: Under the alliance, TI will incorporate flash memory from AMD into its Open Multimedia Application Platform (OMAP), sort of a manufacturing blueprint for wireless devices... OMAP helps TI sell more chips, as the architecture is largely based around the company's products, including a digital signal processor and microprocessors. So far, Nokia, Ericsson and Sony have said they will adopt OMAP recommendations... Both Intel and Motorola are promoting similar, competing architectural blueprints.

Second, there's the CFO issue

Third, there's Apple. I don't know what % of Apple's use MOT chips, but none of them use AMD chips and if Apple isn't run by idiots they should be dropping a CPU architecture thats stuck at 450 MHz.

I think AMD got out of Motorola what it needed w.r.t. Cu technology. Will AMD develop its 0.13 process independently, or cozy up to IBM (again?)
