In my opinion, the Republican position is the opposite pole from the Libertarian position. Libertarian wants minimum government, provide the services that are needed by all, and allow people the freedom to pursue their dream and their own wishes in the bedroom, at the doctor's office, and in the legal process. The republicans want to insert themselves into just about every area of your private life. The opposite of Libertarian. This may not disturb you, you are promoting your agenda, but the Republican right's assault on the rights of citizens does bother and disturb many, including me. This tendency is reflected in some of the Democrat's loony left (what few are left), as well (which is why some seem to make the dizzying transition between the two without ever crossing the middle).
