when it takes you an hour to answer the stinkin' phone

Never ceases to amaze me that in some places you still have to order broadband over the phone.

I ordered my DSL line over the Net. I think I got 2 dozen e-mails from AT&T and Covad before the stupid thing got installed, mostly caused by the Verizon strike.....then, when I wanted an email account I had to call them. The Covad guy didn't know from email. I called AT&T broadband: To talk to an account representitive press zero NOW. The rep had to fill out a form by hand (he made a point of telling me he had to write really big so they would understand what I wanted in the next department), walk down the hall to fax it to another department in the next building requesting an email address for me (it was suppose to come with the service, duh) A few days later someone called me back to confirm my information and then I had to wait 72 hours for it be setup on the system. I wasn't allowed to use it until I was "trained" over the phone with another rep with a soothing voice whose specialty was training people to be a "postmaster". I couldn't resist asking him to describe what he was wearing right then.

The phone!? Is this company ready for the Internet or do they think they work for the government?

Just think, this is the same T that has control of ATHM.

Not ready for primetime yet.
