Well said. I don't think either that we would be ahead with government running the health system. However, the current system is broken, particularly for those less fortunate. The rate of infant mortality in the world's richest country should be cause for shame and action. The millions of children who have inadequate health care because their parents lack insurance, and only see a doctor after it's too late, in the emergency room, for these are the only places they can get care. This should shame us. Critically ill people who get shuttled from hospital to hospital, because the important question is not whether they need a doctor, but whether they have insurance. That is an outrage. The Democrats frequently do offer little more than government handouts for those least fortunate, but the Republicans most often offer nothing, except to say that it's their own lazy fault. Meanwhile the problem persists. How would you suggest we start?
