NTAP--ONO Selects Caching Solutions From Network Appliance to Power Its Expanding Service Offerings
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 3, 2000--Network Appliance, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP - news), a leading provider of network-attached data access and content delivery solutions, today announced that ONO, one of Spain's leading broadband service providers, has selected Network Appliance caching solutions for its network.

ONO offers integrated telecommunications, television, and broadband Internet services to a potential market of millions of residential customers and businesses. ONO will use Network Appliance(TM) NetCache(TM) C760 and C720 solutions for the caching of news over the Web and other broadband services designed to bring rich content to users throughout Spain, primarily in enterprises where content and information are vital to business success.

ONO licenses its services in 9 Spanish provinces and selected Network Appliance NetCache solutions to scale existing bandwidth and eliminate the need for additional infrastructure. NetCache solutions will enable ONO to distribute frequently viewed content closer to its users, reducing network traffic and improving overall performance and response times. ONO's selection of Network Appliance coincides with ONO's broadband communication services expansion announced by ONO on July 12, 2000.

As Carlos Morenos, director of operations and technology at ONOLAB (the ONO unit responsible for Internet matters), said, ``We are rapidly expanding our infrastructure and soon we will offer bandwidth content services for any Internet user. Network Appliance products enable us to scale our infrastructure and offer the best content distribution and access to our customers. As pioneers in this technology, we seek out technology partners who offer solid products and strong global service. Network Appliance meets these requirements.''

``ONO is deploying the most advanced communications technology and equipment available and winning business customers throughout Spain as a result,'' said Amit Pandey, senior marketing director for Network Appliance. ``Network Appliance NetCache solutions are integral to ONO's communications architecture and allow ONO to provide businesses with a fast and safe content distribution system capable of transmitting enormous amounts of information with very high quality.''
