OT: Gore and Bush aren't discussing real solutions because the voting public wouldn't understand them. There are a lot of adults in this country who can't even read very well, and the candidates are trying to reach them. Their speeches are oriented to the "lowest common denominator" and it is indeed low. As an example, the average newspaper article is written for an eigth grade education level. That's not bad because it means most people will comprehend it, but it may lose something in the simplification process.
