WIND--Metro Link Joins World's Largest Embedded Partner Program
X Window System Products on Display in Wind River's Partner Pavilion at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, CA
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2000--Metro Link Inc. (http://www.metrolink.com/), the world's largest third party supplier of the X Window System, has joined Wind River Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:WIND - news; windriver.com) WindLink(TM) Partner Program, the largest embedded-software partner program in the world.

Together, Metro Link and Wind River will offer customers X Window System products and services for new and existing embedded applications.

A giant in the industry, Wind River provides software tools, operating systems and advanced networking for use in products throughout the Internet, telecommunications, data communications, digital imaging, networking, medical, computer peripherals, automotive and aerospace/defense markets. The WindLink Partner Program focuses on helping hardware developers, software developers, system integrators, and consultants create and sell products and services that complement or are integrated with Wind River Products.

Metro Link's full line of X Window System software products work with Wind River's VxWorks® operating system, which is ideal for design and development of embedded systems. Metro Link's products, including Metro-X(TM), Micro-X(TM), Metro Motif(TM) and Metro Media(TM), give developers a stable, standards-based solution for graphics, application development and MPEG playback. Since the X Window System is already a known standard, the learning curve required for unique, proprietary software is eliminated, and the ease of portability to other platforms is increased.

``Wind River's pervasive approach to the embedded market makes them an ideal partner for Metro Link,'' said Morgan Von Essen, Metro Link President and CEO. ``The flexibility and proven reliability of our products make the X Window System an attractive option for nearly any of those diverse markets.''

``We are pleased to have Metro Link join the WindLink Partner Program,'' said Caroline Yao, group manager of partner solutions at Wind River. ``Their innovation and expertise with the X Window System bring exciting possibilities to the embedded systems market.''

Metro Link will provide ongoing demonstrations of their X Window System products in the Wind River Partner Pavilion (booth 830) at the Embedded Systems Conference. The Embedded Systems Conference, located in San Jose, CA on September 26-28, is the world's largest exhibition of embedded products. For more information, visit metrolink.com or embedded.com.
