ISDN market continues to outperform DSL in Europe: Eicon
Consolidates Lead in Nine European Countries, According
to Dataquest Figures

MONTREAL, CANADA--OCTOBER 3, 2000 - 09:00 EDT
The ISDN market in Europe continues to grow and
Eicon Technology Corporation, a leading provider of remote access
products, holds a dominant market position in nine European
countries, according to recently released research from Dataquest,
an independent market analyst firm. Eicon has benefited from this
growth and is the sales leader in Belgium, Denmark, Finland,
Russia, France, Norway, Poland, Sweden and the Netherlands, based
on end-user revenue for Total Basic Rate Equipment.

Ken Gingrich, Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing
Operations says Eicon's overall market share in the region has
risen to 16.7%, and is expected to increase further. "We foresee
continued growth in ISDN for the next two years, particularly in
the telco market, and don't expect to see DSL really taking off in
Europe until 2002. These new figures from Dataquest confirm our
optimism."

Hans Mastenbroek, Eicon's European Marketing Director adds, "Last
year the ISDN market was healthiest at the ultra-competitive
low-end, particularly with internal BRI cards. Yet, our channel
partners reported huge success with high-end, high-margin
products." He continues, "Clearly, users are happy to invest in
ISDN. With ISDN making greater inroads into the consumer space,
it is still a great place to be. Nonetheless, with the DIVA ADSL
USB and DIVA 2430 and 2440 ADSL routers about to launch, Eicon is
well positioned to continue to enhance its reputation in ISDN,
while entering into the DSL market."

Dataquest's research suggests that total revenue for ISDN products
in Europe will rise from US$787 million in 1999 to US$1.156
billion in 2002, representing an increase in the number of units
sold from 5.7 million to 8.9 million. Dataquest also believes the
primary growth area will be in PC cards, which will be fueled by
continued growth in the Internet and remote access markets.
