Mentor Graphics Acquires Harness Software Group, Consolidates Leadership in Wire Harness Industry
WILSONVILLE, Ore. and MANCHESTER, England, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (Nasdaq: MENT - news) today announced that it has acquired the Harness Software Group, a leading provider of wire harness engineering software used primarily by the automotive and aerospace industries. Based in Manchester, England, Harness Software offers products that bridge the gap between harness design and manufacturing, complementing Mentor's existing cabling product line as well as its data management capabilities. With this acquisition, Mentor Graphics® will now be able to offer a complete solution for the design and manufacture of complex electrical wiring systems that will optimize design quality and engineering efficiencies.

Wire harness production remains a highly labor-intensive process because of the complexity of the designs and the large number of variations required. CAPITAL H(TM), the core product from Harness Software, automates critical functionality and time-consuming parts of the harness engineering and development process, including quality, cost and data management. CAPITAL H will be fully integrated with Mentor's electrical intelligence product, Logical Cable(TM) (LCable) software, and Mentor's data management software, which allows users reciprocal access to databases throughout the design process.

Harness Software will become part of Mentor Graphics Systems Design Division and will maintain its headquarters in Manchester, United Kingdom. Harness Software products will continue to be distributed through existing sales channels and will also be transitioned to Mentor's sales channels in the near future.
