Joe, Re: I wonder, is it possible that the new Piiis are actually cC0 stepping?

The FCPGA 1.0 GHz P3s (Socket 370) are only manufactured in cC0 stepping and function up to 70°C. The older ones in Slot package (cB0 stepping) had a maximum temperature tolerance of 60°C. The (recalled) 1.13 GHz P3 were also in cC0 stepping and had a temperature tolerance of 62°C. All P3s with cC0 stepping are SMP capable.

Before the cC0 stepping binsplits must have been really terrible (i.e. <1%). With the new stepping availability has somewhat improved, there are already 25 Pricewatch vendors selling them. However, still no vendor in Germany has them available.
