Over the last several quarters, I have had long discussions with good contacts within "service" companies with whom IBM competes. The vast majority of them have stated bluntly that IBM has systematically bid the big contracts at prices that cannot possibly produce profits for IBM, at least not over the longer term.

We will have more nasty warnings from this sector, perhaps even from IBM itself. Gerstner is already feeling the heat for some of his more outlandish accounting sleight-of hand. Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual IMHO.
