Joe Granville came out with a great analogy for this market...he said(not verbatim): "when the Titanic sank, the bow went under first. so initially , everybody ran to the stern (the equivalent of buying PVN, banks, brokers, utilities while tech goes to hell). only later did they realize that it might be better to jump off the ship altogether." btw, Granville also said that in his opinion, the market's going to go much lower than most people now believe... note, Granville has had his share of bad calls...but also some very good ones.
