Jorj,

Re Ahhaha... I think he's generally got it right however the fact is - FTTH is a reality - today. Deployed in <1% of homes it is still insignficant but it is real. Ahhaha is being conservative with his 2008 date. Fiber will be driven to Mulit-tennant businesses first and mainly in greenfield buildings but economics for replacing existing twisted pair are pretty attractive. As laser prices come down (and remember we're talking short distances so 850nm is fine) the equipment costs are pretty attractive and service capabilities are well beyond what could be had with copper.

I could go on and on on this subject...but let me put it this way.. too many people want it... and having it gets the carriers around SLA/QoS issues. Yes, there is a capital outlay but the end game is huge.
