After the debate, either ABC or NBC flashed a couple Electoral College maps on the screen. The network (either ABC or NBC, I can't remember which) said Gore had locked up roughly 230 electoral votes, while Bush had locked up roughly 180 Electoral College votes. The emphasis, of course, was that the 11 or so battleground states would decide the winner. I'm not agreeing with the analysis, but rather just throwing out the fact that one of the major networks now says Gore is only 40 Electoral College votes away from a win.
