Why do some people appear to confront tragedy better than others ? Why do some people have it so much harder than others ?
I feel that many people blame society when God says He is not a respecter of persons , or their parents or background.
Granted these have a bearing but I do not buy them as excuses.
It is a common fact that people are given over to lusts, desires, what feels good, the easy way out , away from pain, what tastes good, the flesh in general.
Well if you are going to have any lasting victory in this life you have to learn to crucify the flesh daily, and I feel the only way to do so is in Christ Jesus.
Eat green leafy vegies and you probably will not get detached retinas. I talked to a woman going blind the other day and told her to eat a can of collard greens or spinach every day. Her answer. I hate spinach and collard greens and have never eaten them. Do you want me to throw up she asked ? I though to myself no, but I do not want you to go blind either.
Like the muffler guy said , pay me now or later. Most of these people tend to want to pay later.
It takes discipline to exercise, eat right ,bible study, save and invest for the future, get up at 6 am to run five miles, bite your tongue to keep from insulting someone, go to bed and get 8 hours, not watch trash on tv, or rent trashy movies, or go to church or choir practice or post on this thread for that matter.
But how can these people live victorious lives when they do not do these things; much less be disciples for Christ and the word disciple come from the word discipline.
Now you ask !! What does this have to do with a 3 year old with cancer.
It might , it might not; but several things hit me about your post.
The man was not downcast, you said. I sure would be . I would be pouring my heart out to the Lord. I am a very big whiner. I admit. I cry, stomp my feet, yell,scream. But I am going to get Gods attention. I do not resign myself to the situation. I get upset. I do not accept the situation. Either the situation is going to change or God is going to see me go crazy. You know 99.9 % of the time God hears my call. I get an answer that satisfies my soul.
Another thing. The man was with his father when his son has cancer. Doesn't the bible tell us to leave our parents for our wives and husbands, I feel he should have been with his son and wife.
He was waiting for his fathers lungs to clear up. I say pray about it. Anoint his father with oil like we are instructed and lay hands on him and pray for him like we are instructed. Why take the time to come to church and have the church pray for him. Do it yourself I say. That man has the authority, he is the head of his household, he has the power to do it himself.
After I would have anointed and layed hands on I would have been out of there to go to my son and wife. God would then do all the rest.
That mans 'waiting' was doing no one any good. God doesn't heal someone because we wait. It is because,,, it is because,,, we have faith in doing what he commands us to do.
Obedience is better than sacrifice. I do not know the man, I am not judging him. Why didn't he ask someone to stand in for his son and father, why didn't he ask for a prayer cloth to take to his son, those are biblical. You see you have to take charge. Remember the Roman soldier. He told Christ. No... do not come to my house... I tell my men where to go , what to do, You just tell who is in spiritual charge here what to do.. Christ obeyed the man ??? NO NO Christ rewarded the man's faith .
Faith still runs the universe, His name is Jesus. Impossible to please Him w/o faith. Faith w/o works is dead. I say faith w/o obedience is dead too. W/o obedience we would never put our works into action...In Christ......gregor
