Community banks are in play for merger with national or regional banks who borrow money from the FEDs(high overnight discount rate). Community banks had no exposure from the FEDs' crazy rate increase. Fleet/BankBoston taking over Summit is the first shot across the bow. Extrapolate from Summit's goodwill, MWBX could be very good investment soon, if FEDs maintain their high interest policy.
