Wednesday October 4, 7:31 am Eastern Time Press Release International Aid & Trade Signs Revenue Sharing Contract With ProNetLink.com ProNetLink.com, United Nations Office for Project Services and The Winchester Group of London Align to bring Major Global Procurement Trade Show and Conference to the Internet.
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2000-- ProNetLink.com (OTC BB: PNLK - news), the Global Trade Internetwork(TM), today announced that it has signed a revenue sharing business alliance with The Winchester Group UK to bring the U.N. International Aid & Trade Conference & Exhibition (IA&T) to the Internet.
The Winchester Group works directly with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) to produce the event and owns the rights to the Aid & Trade procurement trade show and conference. The event will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York on June 20-21, 2001.
Every year International Aid & Trade brings together heads of UN agencies, development banks, international organizations, government and NGO representatives, and major international CEOs to strengthen the partnership between the United Nations, and the private sector. This one-of-a-kind event allows UN, development banks, and business executives to review their joint projects on an annual basis, define future directions, and draw lessons from their collaboration. Corporations showcase their goods and services to the community of UN, World Bank, and NGO procurement officers and find out about upcoming contracts and trends.
``UNOPS is a service organization for the UN system, governments, and increasingly the business community,'' said UNOPS Executive Director Reinhart Helmke. ``Our partnership with ProNetLink.com allows us to broaden our business audience in ways we could never achieve on our own. ProNetLink.com is working in a spirit of partnership to promote the UN-business story and widen the UN access to products and services, which ultimately results in efficiency gains,'' he added.
Over the last ten years, UNOPS has purchased goods, equipment and commodities valued at over US$1.3 billion; another $1.1 billion worth of services and works were contracted.
ProNetLink.com and its Internet broadcast arm, PNLTV.com, will work with IA&T and UNOPS to add Internet functionality to the event. The newest addition to the IA&T will be ProNetLink.com's Virtual Trade Show (VTS) that will allow businesses to present their products and services online through Internet streaming video technology and database search protocols and then begin the trade process on line. Exhibitors will have the option of 3,5,10 or 15-minute video presentations featuring their products. Businesses will be able to search the VTS show directory to find products that fit their needs and then watch a full video presentation on that product. ProNetLink.com is currently working with the Winchester Group and UNOPS to finalize the design and functionality of this new module.
``We see the relationship with ProNetLink.com as a way to maximize the reach and efficiency of the trade show process'', commented Russell Kean, Managing Director of The Winchester Group, ``Our partnership with ProNetLink.com creates an exciting and cost efficient way for the world to participate in the trade show and procurement process''.
The ProNetLink.com Global Trade Internetwork(TM) will increase the amount of visibility exhibitors will receive if they participate in the VTS. Currently ProNetLink.com has businesses in 114 countries using its online system.
``We are very proud of this new relationship with the UNOPS and the Winchester Group. ProNetLink.com has collaborated with the United Nations to bring it and its subagencies the increased exposure and business opportunities the Internet affords'' said Glenn Zagoren, Chairman, ProNetLink.com. ``The ProNetLink.com trade community and Broadcast VTS concept provides powerful tools that substantially enhance the value and reach of the Aid & Trade conference for long after the event closes.''
The Winchester Group and UNOPS expects between 300 and 400 companies to participate in the June procurement show and Virtual Trade Shows will start at $5500 for 10 minutes (other lengths available). The Broadcast VTS concept was created by ProNetLink.com and will be produced and hosted by PNLTV.com. ProNetLink.com has retained first right of refusal on future IA&T events through 2005.
One of UNOPS's missions is to bring the Aid & Trade information to the largest audience possible. As a result keynote speakers and conference participants will also be broadcast over the Internet on PNLTV.com so that businesses from around the world can participate while saving time and travel. This will be especially beneficial to developing nations.
ProNetLink.com will also play a key role in marketing the events.

About UNOPS
Dating back to 1973, UNOPS is the only self-financing entity in the UN system. It is also the only UN body entirely devoted to project management and execution. While it has no specific mandate, such as refugee assistance or population programs, UNOPS executes projects in all areas of UN activity. Some of these areas include mine clearance, rural development, election monitoring, human rights and environmental management. UNOPS' clients include most UN agencies, the World Bank, and governments that entrust projects to UNOPS under their international aid programs. UNOPS' corporate headquarters are located in New York's Chrysler Building, but UNOPS has major offices in Kuala Lumpur, Geneva, Copenhagen, Abidjan, and Rome.
In 1998, UNOPS purchased $331 million worth of goods ad services and hired 7,000 consultants and short-term experts to work on its projects around the world. Its project portfolio totaled $3.5 billion and it passed the $1 billion mark in new business acquisition for the first time in its history.
As the UN's project management specialist, UNOPS has been working with the private sector since its inception. UNOPS sees the private sector not just as a supplier of goods and services but also as a partner in the implementation of UNOPS' projects. International Aid & Trade is only one example of a UNOPS partnership with a private sector firm. UNOPS applies private sector methods to the UN's work. UNOPS testifies to the fact that the values of the UN Charter and principles of corporate efficiency are not only compatible, but mutually reinforcing. Visit UNOPS' website at www.unops.org.
