partial birth abortion. It makes up a tiny number compared with first trimester abortions. It is supposed to be reserved for women who , for medical reasons should not continue with it... If a choice is to be made, always save the mother's life first. The number of them performed is small but I am not sure it would be accurate to call it tiny. I also think it is almost never necessary to perform such a procedure to save the mother's life. (In addition most supporters of a ban would vote for such a ban with an exception in cases where the procedure is necessary to save the mothers life. (if there are any such cases)) Tim
