Neocon, look, one reporter recognizes the gravity of last nights debate:

How will this checkmate pan out? Gore did a great job last night. He was clearly the better prepared and more qualified of the two. He held back from taking too many blows to Dubya's pretty face and didn't even get close to a low blow. Last night's debate bored everyone, including Bush, to tears. At the next debate, Gore will increase the intensity of his attack. He will begin to corner Dubya on a whole range of issues that Bush would like to dodge. For example, abortion. Bush got away with it last night because Gore had to be nice. All that Gore has to do is wait for Bush to go negative, which he must to if he wants a chance at the Presidency, then turn all the dogs lose on him. Just like Gore did to Bradley.
