STANDARD & POOR'S - INDEX CHANGE

TORONTO, ONTARIO, October 3, 2000 - Standard &
Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces that
effective after the close of business on Thursday,
October 19, 2000
the following changes will take
place in the S&P Global 1200, TSE 300 Composite,
S&P/TSE 60, S&P/TSE Canadian SmallCap, TSE
200 and TSE 100 Indices.

The following companies will be removed from the
TSE 300 Composite Index--Cambior Inc. (TSE: CBJ),
Call-Net Enterprises Inc. (TSE: CN), Dylex Ltd. (TSE:
DLX) and Loewen Group Inc. (TSE: LWN). The
following companies will be added to the TSE 300
Composite Index--Sun Life Financial Services of
Canada Inc. (TSE: SLC), Stratos Global Corporation
(TSE: SGB), Com Dev International Ltd. (TSE: CDV)
and Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. Cl. A (TSE:
HHL.A).


Sun Life Financial Services of Canada Inc. will also
be added to the S&P Global 1200, S&P/TSE 60 and
TSE 100 Indices replacing Geac Computer
Corporation Ltd. (TSE: GAC). Geac Computer
Corporation Ltd. be added to the S&P/TSE Canadian
SmallCap and TSE 200 Indices. These changes are
pursuant to TSE 300 Composite Index Maintenance
Rule #2.

Sun Life Financial Services of Canada Inc. is a
diversified international financial services organization
which provides financial solutions to individuals
throughout their lifetime. Sun Life Financial Services
of Canada Inc. will be added to the TSE 300
Composite Index in the Financial Services Group
(13.05), S&P/TSE 60 Index in the Financials sector
and TSE 100 in the Interest Sensitive sector (4).

Stratos Global Corporation is a full service provider of
remote data and voice services through their Mobile
Satellite and Fixed Satellite services. Stratos Global
Corporation will be added to the TSE 300 Composite
Index in the Utilities Group (10.03) and the S&P/TSE
Canadian SmallCap Index in the Telecommunication
Services sector.

Com Dev International Ltd. is a designer,
manufacturer and distributor of space and
ground-based wireless communications products and
subsystems. Com Dev International Ltd. will be
added to the TSE 300 Composite Index in the
Industrial Products Group (06.05) and a Canadian
SmallCap Index in the Information Technology sector.


Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. is an international
energy corporation engaged in the exploration,
development, production, acquisition, refining and
marketing of oil and refined products, in the Republic
of Kazakhstan. Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. will be
added to the TSE 300 Composite Index in the Oil and
Gas Group (03.02) and S&P/TSE Canadian
SmallCap Index in the Energy sector.

Geac Computer Corporation Ltd. is a provider of
mission critical software and systems solutions to
corporations around the world. Geac Computer
Corporation Ltd. will be added to S&P/TSE Canadian
SmallCap Index in the Information Technology sector.

equity index do not in any way reflect an opinion on
the investment merits of the company.
