I would like to hear an instance in which calculated dishonesty is necessary to run a country. Roosevelt's manipulation of the American public to get US into war against the axis? Such as pretending the lend-lease program wasn't a step toward war. Such as (possibly, never proven) keeping advance knowledge of Pearl Harbor secret. Iran/Contra Allende The thousands of promises made and broken to Native Americans. Etc.
