Hi COS
"What if some child was run over while there with his Aunt who was there with her Sister-in-Law who asked her to come with her because her husband was killed when she was raped? Or some teenage girl who became impregnated by her stepfather? How on Earth does that fit into God's plan?"
WOW and my position is too complex? Just kidding. How would your scenario fit into God's plan? I would have to be God to answer that. Two wrongs don't make a right though. One is tempted to just throw up your hands and say Dunno! Fortunately complexity is not a problem for an infinite personal being such as God. I have a similar question for you. What if that child being aborted(lets be honest; put to death)would have grown up to discover the cure for cancer? Or here is another scenario. What if that child were to grow up to be the next Hitler? The fact is we do not know. God on the other hand knows all possible contingencies. Christians see all life as having intrinsic value because it comes from God. Human life, has particular value because it reflects the image of God Himself. Murder by definition is the taking of an innocent life. If a baby in the womb is a life and is innocent, then it seems perfectly logical to me to call the taking of that life murder. That is not to say we should not have compassion for the woman who finds herself in the position where she feels that she could not bear to have the child. But there are other alternatives. Of course you know that the vast number of abortions are done simply for convenience. the number of abortions that are done due to rape or incest or because the life of the mother is in jeopardy is minuscule. Once life was cheapened for the unborn it was not long before the other helpless in our society were susceptible to the same treatment the old the sick the mentally retarded. Im glad I'm young and healthy and reasonably sane. Help me with the logic here. We are supposed to grant human beings the right to kill their own children on demand, for no good reason and call that "choice", at the same time we are to hold the giver of that life (God)to a standard that we do not expect from ourselves. Smacks of special pleading and a double standard to me. What do you think
