Hi mishedlo; The DDR chips used in the SharkyExtreme tests were DDR200, with a latency of CL2. That works out to be 20ns. They compared it with PC133 CL2, which has a latency of 13ns. The slower latency is not a consequence of the interface (i.e. SDR or DDR), but it has a marked effect on performance.

The manufacturers can choose to make SDR or DDR, but they cannot choose to make 13ns or 20ns latencies. Instead, they have to accept what their process will give them. Over time, they will gradually improve those processes, so that they get more of the 13ns stuff and less of the 20ns stuff. But saddling DDR with the 20ns benchmark results is not a reasonable way of comparing DDR to SDR.
