JC, It'd be nice if AMD's Execs could explain in their CC precisely why Intel cannot engage in such a price war.

I can't figure out how Intel can start a price war....

One can buy 1.1GHz tbird @$646, I am sure AMD makes quite a bundle per chip there, and Intel has no ammunitions there, with the 1 GHz tbird now going for $421 vs 1 GHz coppermine of $703, what can Intel do? One can buy 1 Ghz tbird, premium motherboard (Abit/Asus) plus 128Mb memory for the same price of a coppermine, and AMD going to raise the bar again with the immenent release of 1.2 GHz, probably before the P4 even be available in limited qty. If Intel can produce enough 1GHz and price with only slight premium to AMD's, it will destroy their overall comfortable margin and Intel's stock price.
