Sonki - Re: " Paul, who is the biggest supplier to intel within
equipment makers. Are there are like 50 fabs in the world?
Intel owns how many? "

Applied Materials sells Intel a lot of processing equipment. Nikon and SVGL sell Intel a lot of wafer steppers and Step & Scan machines.

PRIA sells Intel a lot of automation equipment/systems.

I'm not sure about CMP but I think IPEC is a supplier to Intel for this critical equipment.

As for fabs - there are many hundreds of wafer fabs in the world - perhaps thousands. However, there are not that many with 8 inch/0.35 micron or better capability.

Intel currently has the following fabs in production or under construction:

Fab 5 - Aloha, Or (1978 - Upgraded to 6" 1986)
Fab 6 - Chandler (1981)
Fab 7 - Rio Rancho, NM
Fab 8 - Jerusalem - Israel
Fab 9 - Rio Rancho (Modules 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 9.4) Announced in 1987 - 600,000 SQ.Ft Total

Fab 10 - Leixlip, Ireland - Came on stream 1993

Fab 11 - Rio Rancho - Giant Complex - Still (?) Coming on STream - Announced in 1995 - $1.8 Billion investment.

Fab 12 - Near Chandler (Ocatello) - Came on Stream in June , 1996

Fab - 13 - No Such Number

Fab 14 Leixlip. Ireland - Announced Oct. 20, 1995 - Next to Fab 10 75,000 Sq. Ft. Class 1 clean room & 750,000 sq. ft. overall expansion for offices, etc. Fab 14 is scheduled for
completion in 1998 and is projected to cost $1.5 billion (U.S.)

Fab 15 - New Name for the Origtinal D1 fab, converted to Production use in 1996?
