SS overflow should be invested in treasuries or inflation adjusted treasuries.

See this argument just blows me away. You aren't describing an investment, it's a bookkeeping trick. You take a dollar out of the private sector, waste the dollar, then put a mark in a big book promising to tax future tax payers 2 dollars, ( or if inflation runs away, 5 dollars ).

Seems wiser to me to keep the dollar in the private sector, let it help grow the economy. That way, when the SS promises come due there'll be a bigger pie to dish out instead of burdening the next generation with higher taxes.
