Right now - biotech means pharmaceuticals.... But what about the future? I heard a talk on NPR around '84 about the future of biotech. The lecturer was describing genetically engineered food, fuel, fabric - - - EVERYTHING. He believed that we would be forced to switch to molecular based manufacturing from mechanical manufacturing because the by-products of molecular manufacturing are non-toxic. Are there any biotechs that are looking beyond pharmaceuticals? I remember MYCOGEN that was doing seeds, what ever happened to them?
